Career Pivot Guide
How to compare adjacent careers using skills, labor-market data and AI exposure.
AIJobScanner's AI exposure score is a site-generated estimate, not a BLS or O*NET statistic and not a probability of job loss.
Start with transferable value
List the knowledge, tools, credentials, relationships and responsibilities that would remain useful in another role. Then identify adjacent occupations where those assets shorten the transition.
Compare more than AI exposure
A lower exposure score alone does not make a career a good pivot. Consider wages, projected employment, annual openings, training time, licensing, location and whether you would actually want the work.
Prefer short bridges
When two careers have similar requirements, a targeted credential, portfolio project or new responsibility may be enough to bridge the gap. AIJobScanner's Career Pivot and labor-market tools are designed to make those tradeoffs visible.
